SSSP 1999

A special expedition to South America under direction of ICSTARS Astronomy

Set on the shores of scenic Lake Titicaca, the Southern Skies Star Party features a backdrop of the beautiful Andes mountain range.
Doctors John Bishop and Edgar Cortes from Texas brought this 16" Dobsonian. The site also hosts a 10" Starmaster Dobsonian for public use.

After four trips south, veteran bird watcher John Phelps has compiled a rather extensive reference guide to wildlife seen on the observing site.

Michael Packer from Ohio also enjoyes kicking back by the lake at the observing site

Southern Skies Star Party Director and four year veteran Vic Winter shows us his gear. Vic was shooting with a 500mm lense while using another 500mm and ST6 to guide. Vic built a special attachment bracket to replace his counterweights with more cameras. For an added bonus these cameras would also track with the rest of the rig.
