Chacaltaya Observatory of Cosmic Physics

Today, we take a walk in the clouds - almost literally.
The bus drives our group back towards La Paz, then turns up into the mountain region near the famous mountain, Huina Potosi.  The road up towards the high peak of 17,100 feet can be clear to within a few hundred yards of top - if not all the way depending on weather. Atop the glacier at Chacaltaya sits a desolate snow-ski resort and the Observatory of Cosmic Physics.

Visitors are treated to the view of a lifetime with clouds and mountainpeaks what feels like an arm's distance away.
Once at the Cosmic Ray lab, staff welcome visitors with a tour of their facility to explain their research in cosmic physics.
